Nice Forecast, a Science Cafe on Fracking and a Halloween Costume Swap

Five things happening today- Wednesday, Sept. 25

  1. The National Weather Service says today is supposed to be sunny, with a high near 68 and tonight we may see patchy fog but otherwise, it’ll be partly cloudy, with a low around 50.
  2. Wednesday muni meeting: Bd. of Selectmen meets at 7 p.m. in the police station.
  3. There’s a "Science Cafe" tonight at 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Downtown Westerly. The topic will the enhanced gas and oil recovery technique known as "Fracking." This Science Cafe is sponsored by The Rhode Island Section of the American Chemical Society (RIACS). Appetizers and beverages will be available. There is no charge, but seating is limited, so please register by emailing Pete at peterjbonk@gmai.com.
  4. The Halloween costume swap or drop at the Stonington Free Library is still going on. They will collect children's Halloween costumes from Sept. 9-Sept. 28. All costumes must be clean, complete, and on a hanger with size marked, with a plastic (grocery store style) bag attached! They will have free shopping from Sept. 30-Oct. 5. Any leftover costumes will be donated. Call the Library at 860-535-0658 with any questions.There’s still time to register for the Gettin’ Muddy for Kids fundraising mud run at Fields of Fire in Mystic. Proceeds go toward the Boys and Girls Club of Southeastern Connecticut. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
