North Stonington Memorial Day Parade 2016 Taking Place May 30

50th Anniversary North Stonington Memorial Day Parade, Monday, May 30. Parade steps off from the North Stonington Fairgrounds at 10 a.m.

This year marks the 50th year that the North Stonington Lion’s Club has sponsored the North Stonington Memorial Day Parade. The parade begins Monday, May 30th at 10:00 a.m. from the Fairgrounds on Wyassup Road.

The Parade will proceed down Wyassup Road, through the Village on Main Street then along Route 2, back through the village to the Wheeler Middle School for the Memorial Day Ceremonies. In case of severe weather such that the parade must be cancelled, there will be a Memorial Service held at the North Stonington Grange Hall at 10:00 a.m.

This year the parade will feature co-Grand Marshalls: RADM David M. Goebel, USN (Retired) and Trevor W. Stefanski MIDN, USN.

Participants this year include the Connecticut Army National Guard, CT Silver Dolphins Honor Guard and Drill Team, Wheeler Middle/High School Band, 5th CT Volunteer Infantry, VFW Spirit of 76, Post 8170, Nutmeg Volunteer Fife & Drum Corps, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4H Clubs, and the NS Little League.

Also participating are the North Stonington Grange, North Stonington Garden Club, North Stonington Historical Society, local Fire Depts. and Ambulance Corps, Antique Auto’s, Lion’s Club Horse Drawn Float and other floats.

All active duty and veterans from the town are encouraged to come in uniform and march in this year's Parade.
