Police Investigate 3 Cars Stolen In Stonington

All three cars had keys left in the ignition, according to police.

STONINGTON, CT — Police said that three 3 cars were recently stolen in Stonington. All three had the keys left in the ignition.

Police said residents should be mindful of not leaving your keys in the ignition.

Groton Police recently offered the following tips to residents to avoid having their cars stolen:

1) Lock always your car doors and lock your house door.

2) Don't leave valuables unattended in a car where they can be easily seen and stolen. Never leave a purse in a vehicle. Lock your car always.

3) Don't leave a vehicle unlocked with the key in the ignition and leave it unattended....ever.

4) Actually befriend your neighbor, talk to them and if you are not home, and they are, and a package is to be delivered, have them grab it and safeguard it for you. You then can repay the favor.
