RI Hospitality Association Appoints Farouk Rajab As 2020 Chairman
Rajab succeeds Christopher Tarro of Siena Restaurants.

Cranston, RI – The RI Hospitality Association (RIHA) has appointed Stonington, CT resident Farouk Rajab, General Manager of the Providence Marriott Downton, as the Chairman of its Board of Directors for the remainder of 2020, effective immediately. The appointment comes as Christopher Tarro, owner of Siena Restaurant Group, resigns from the position, citing “personal, professional and business reasons.”

As general manager of the Providence Marriott Downtown, Rajab has embraced a collaborative style of communication to motivate his team and to cultivate trust from executive leadership. Prior to joining the Providence Marriott, he served as the general manager of the Westin Minneapolis Hotel and the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa in Connecticut.
“I’m honored to have been entrusted with such an incredible responsibility to work hand-in-hand with, and to lead my colleagues on the Board during the most pivotal period of time in our industry’s recent history,” said Rajab. “I look forward to further strengthening the Association’s leadership role in Rhode Island’s hospitality industry.”

Rajab is an active participant in Rhode Island’s hospitality industry, serving on several organizations’ boards, including: the RI Hospitality Association, the Providence Tourism Council and the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau. He also volunteers his time to his local community, serving on the Board of the Stonington Community Center, and as a member of both the Stonington Board of Education and the Stonington Democratic Town Committee.
