St. Patrick's Day Weekend Includes Annual Mystic Irish 5K Road Race
Runners are encouraged to wear their best green running gear and have fun with the St. Patrick's Day theme.

From Groton Parks & Rec: Kick off a weekend of Irish themed fun in Downtown Mystic with the third annual Mystic Irish 5K Road Race on Saturday, March 18 at 10 a.m. The certified 5K race begins and ends on Pearl Street and follows a flat and fast route along the Mystic River. Runners are encouraged to wear their best green running gear and have fun with the St. Patrick’s Day theme. To be guaranteed a 2017 event t-shirt, participants must register before March 5.
Over 500 runners participated last year, and the numbers are expected to increase this year as the event gains popularity as part of a week of exciting St. Patrick’s Day events in Mystic, with the Mystic Irish Parade the following day.
Discounted registration is available for $25 before March 15 online at GrotonRec.com or in person at the Groton Parks and Recreation office at 29 Spicer Ave., Groton. Race day registration is $30 and begins at 8:30 a.m. at the registration tent located in the parking lot of St. Mark’s Church, 15 Pearl St. A portion of each registration benefits the Mystic Irish Parade Foundation.
