Notice is hereby given that the Board of Finance of the Town of Stonington will hold a Virtual Public Hearing on April 1, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. for the following purpose:

To present the itemized estimates of expenditures of the Town for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 as recommended by the Board of Finance and to hear the citizens of the Town in regard to any appropriation which they are desirous that the Board recommend or reject. A copy of the budget, as recommended, is available for review in the office of the Town Clerk and online at www.stonington-ct.gov. A summary of that recommended budget is as follows:

Office of the Selectman $1,051,514

Dept. of Administrative Services $4,617,710

Dept. of Assessment $362,354

Dept. of Finance $1,711,473

Debt Service $8,134,208

Dept. of Planning & Land Use $529,780

Dept. of Public Works $7,377,486

Dept. of Police Services $6,541,226

Dept. of Human Services $1,701,865

Board of Education $38,335,596

Schedule C: Land, Bldg., Improvements & Equipment $2,773,319

TOTAL RECOMMENDATION $73,136,531

Based upon the above recommendation the estimated level of taxation for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 is at 23.85 Mils. Of the above budget, the amount to be raised by taxes is $67,410,306.

PARTICIPATION: The meeting will be held virtually through the WebEx platform. Residents can join through audio on a phone line. The meeting will also be streamed to Facebook for those wanting to watch, but not comment.

COMMENTS: Residents wishing to comment are asked to do one of the following:

Preferred Method - Submit written testimony of no more than 300 words (equivalent to a two-minute speech) to Town of Stonington, Office of the First Selectman, 152 Elm Street, Stonington, CT 06378; or place letter in the drop box located outside of Town Hall; or deliver to the office of the First Selectman; or email to selectmen@stonington-ct.gov by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. You should cite the area of the budget you plan to comment on and if you are in favor or opposition.

Secondary Option - Residents wishing to speak during the public hearing must dial into the meeting. The Board will review each item of the budget by section. When the area you wish to comment on is announced press *3 to “raise your hand”. When it is your turn to speak you will hear a prompt telling you to press *6 to unmute your line. At that time, you are able to speak in the meeting. Residents will be limited to two minutes in comments.
