Stonington Crew Wins Five At Home Against Guilford
In its first home meet of the spring season, Stonington Crew won five of eight events against visiting crews from Guilford.
MYSTIC, CT – In its first home meet of the spring season, Stonington Crew won five of eight events against visiting crews from Guilford.
Guilford won all novice events, while Stonington won all varsity events, according to a release. The meet ended with an exciting race in which the Stonington Girls V3 boat finished just two seconds ahead of Guilford.
“With three weeks left until States, we’re refining our lineups to make the fastest boats across the board,”
Head Coach and Boys Varsity Coach Tyler Page said in a release. “Today’s results are a good indication that we’re on the right path.”

Stonington will compete in the Connecticut Public Schools Rowing Association (CPSRA) championships on May 20. Newly christened boys and girls V1 boats won their respective events.
“The Vespoli VHP boats were christened a week ago at our annual Crew Gala fundraiser,” Girls Varsity Coach Maria Brown said in a release. “We celebrated the team’s 20th anniversary by naming the boats after the team’s founders Mike Nowak and Ken Godfrey.”

Next weekend is also a home meet for the Bears. Stonington will host Xavier and East Lyme on Sunday
morning, May 6.
