Stonington High School Cracks Top 5 of Final Boys Soccer Poll

The Bears marched to the Class M semifinals before being stunned by Cinderella team and eventual champion Plainville.

STONINGTON, CT — A stunning semifinal game defeat at the hands of unheralded Plainville resulted in Stonington High School placing fourth in the final Class M-S coaches poll for 2018.

The Bears, the No. 3 seed following a 15-1 regular season, shut out three opponents in the tournament before being knocked off by the Cinderella team, the No. 23 seeded Blue Devils. Stonington placed behind Plainville, Class M runner-up Ellington and Class S champion Old Saybrook in the final balloting.

Class LL champion Glastonbury, which won its second straight title by knocking off No. 2 Hall in the championship game, was the top vote-getter in Classes LL-L.
