Stonington Police Issue Eversource Scam Warning
Businesses reported receiving calls from someone claiming to be from Eversource and notifying them of late payments.
Stonington Police are urging business owners and residents to be vigilant if contacted by someone claiming to be from Eversource.
"The Stonington Police Department has received numerous calls from local businesses reporting that they have been contacted by Eversource (by phone) in reference to being late on their payments," Stonington Police Department said via Facebook. "They are advising the businesses to pay overdue payments or their power will be shut off. The number given to call and make a payment comes back to a party stating 'Eversource billing and payments.' This is a scam, please do not respond to the call."
