Thieves Attempt To Drag ATM Out Of Stonington Pharmacy
A group of three men attempted to steal an ATM from a Stonington Walgreens by using an SUV to drag the machine out.
STONINGTON, CT — One man is facing charges after a group unsuccessfully attempted to drag an ATM out of the Walgreens pharmacy on Route 1 in Pawcatuck using a stolen Kia SUV, according to The New London Day. Police said three men pried open the pharmacy door at 12:25 a.m.
They then wrapped a steel cable around the ATM and attached it to the SUV's backseat, but when they drove forward, they ripped out the SUV's backseat.
Police later caught one of the suspects after he crashed the Kia on Route 9 in Essex. The other two men fled, according to The New London Day.

Francisco Maldonado, 28, of New Britain, was charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree larceny. He was held on $25,000 bond.
