UPDATE: Route 1 in Pawcatuck Now Open
Life Star is en route to the scene after a car reportedly struck a pedestrian. Police recommend drivers take alternate routes.

The Stonington Police Department, Connecticut said South Broad Street (Route 1) at Mayflower Avenue in Pawcatuck is closed due to a car accident.

Police recommend motorists seek alternate routes. NBC Connecticut's Heidi Voight tweeted an early report, that Life Star is flying to the scene. She said the accident involves a car and a pedestrian.
According to NBC CT, the accident occurred near Stonington High School.
