Connecticut River Searched By Suffield, Enfield Police [UPDATE]

A search for a possible "body in the water" involved Suffield, Enfield and state police.

SUFFIELD, CT — A Connecticut State Police dive team responded to the Connecticut River between Suffield and Enfield, following a report around 2:15 p.m. of a possible body in the water.

Suffield Police Chief Richard Brown said, "We had a sighting of what may have been a body in the water," adding that the dive team is en route.

At the South River Street boat launch on the Enfield side of the river, Enfield police were involved in the operation.

"Trying to identify something about five feet down. Don't know what it is yet," said Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox, adding the unidentified object is "also on the Suffield side."

Around 3:45 p.m., state police "recovered a torso of a mannequin from the river in the area where the body was seen. This concludes the investigation," Brown said.
