CPL Stephen Bixler Memorial Picnic

Cancelled due to Covid-19

Dear friends and family,

This May 4th will be the 14th anniversary that Stephen sacrificed his life for the freedoms we have today. As we would have gathered this year to Honor Steve we were also with great sadness, going to hold the picnic in Memory of Stephen's good buddy Chris Rossi who passed away from sudden heart failure. We know Steve & Chris are enjoying a cold beer up above with all their love ones who have gone before them. It is also with great regret that we have decided to cancel this years picnic due to the covid-19 pandemic. We are hoping and prayer that this virus will be over soon. But with so much uncertainty we feel it is best to cancel for this year,

Last year we were able to raise $11,300. Stephen's memory will always be honored and kept alive through the many community projects that benefited and will continue to benefit from his Memorial Fund. Linda & Rich Bixler have continued to donate to many worthwhile projects in our community and surrounding communities. This would not be possible without a donation from Stephen's Fund. We would like to tell you the projects that have benefited from last years picnic: Suffield Fire Department (Thermal Imaging Camera), Boy Scout troop 260, Jarheads Motorcycle Club, Flannagan Family Fund, CT Run For The Fallen. Jeremiah & Jessica Knowles a fellow Marine fallen on hard times, Wreaths Across America, Crossroads Food Pantry, Enfield Hooah, Pauline's Stockpot Kitchen, Cupids Run Charity, Heart Association Heart Walk, Suffield Middle School Giraffe Club and last but not least Sally Storey for the making of very much needed masks for the Suffield House, Suffield by the River, Evergreen Nursing Home and others.

A personnel message from Rich & Linda Bixler:

"Both Linda and I would like to thank all of you who have supported us and Stephen's Memorial Fund over the past thirteen years. This Memorial Day please take a moment to remember Steve in your own special way. Also remember all those brave men and women who have given so much for this country. We would also like for you to keep Chris Rossi in your thoughts and prayers. Chris, a dear friend of Steve's, did so much to make this picnic such a huge success every year. We wish each and everyone of you the best during these difficult times and God willing, we will be able to celebrate Stephen's life together at next years Memorial Picnic."
