Fall and Halloween Pumpkin Parties were a Blast at the Parks and Recreation Department!

Fall is one of the favorite times of year for many especially in beautiful New England. After a busy summer with all our camp programs, the Parks and Recreation Department went full steam ahead straight into fall with a variety of enriching programs for the whole family! While our Soccer, Field Hockey, Cheerleading, Fitness Squad, Speed Training and variety of sport programs have been keeping children active and fit, our creative arts and crafts Halloween programs also have added much enjoyment this season. Who does not love to decorate pumpkins and make some artistic crafts and treats in the fall? Halloween adds excitement for all ages. Children in Grades 1-5 made a variety of fantastic crafts during our Fun Fall and Halloween Crafters class. The children also decorated incredibly creative pumpkins and treats at our hauntingly fun Halloween Party. The Scare It Up Suffield Scare Crow Contest and events held at the Senior Center for all ages were very popular again this year. All of the pumpkins that we had for our various programs were from Bielonko Farm and were perfect! The Bowling Buddies group has also been having a new activity night each week while the Spare Time lanes has been under renovation before our bowling season was underway. We have had record attendance at the outings and the group enjoyed going to the Big E, McDonald’s night, Game Night and Pizza Party, Halloween and Fall Crafting night with a trip to Subway, a Halloween Pumpkin decorating Party and a Halloween Movie Night. The highlight of the season was when the group went on a fun Hayride, corn maze walk, cider and donut tasting and pumpkin picking trip to Brown’s Harvest. Brown’s Harvest is the perfect spot to have a large fall gathering. The group really enjoyed the trip. Halloween is always a popular and busy time at the Recreation Department. Wishing you and your family a safe and fun Halloween!
