Healthy After School Snack Making was a Hit!

The Suffield Parks and Recreation Department partnered with ShopRite again with another successful Healthy After School Snack Making Program

The Suffield Parks and Recreation Department's Healthy After-School Snack Making Program and partnership with ShopRite was another Hit!

Who does love enjoying a great homemade snack after school? Learning how to make delicious recipes that are quick, healthy, inexpensive and fun to prepare is a specialty of the very talented Michelle Mattia-Registered Dietitian of the Enfield of ShopRite that has partnered with the Suffield Parks and Recreation Department once again. Back by popular demand, we offered a very successful "Healthy After School Snack Making" program for children in Grades 1-5 in the McAlister School on Thursday, March 21. During this informative and Free workshop, children were encouraged to roll up their sleeves and make healthy snacks while learning and having fun. The session included tasty, no-cook recipes that the whole family can enjoy. Participants engaged in a healthy, hands-on nutrition discussion followed by the food preparation portion of the event. The children all loved making nutritious smoothies, guacamole and even mixed, measured the recipes all while having a blast. Many thanks to Michelle Mattia and the ShopRite of Enfield for collaborating with the Suffield Parks and Recreation Department to offer is important program for the community.
