“Sergeant Trovato’s dedication to combating drunken and impaired driving is a great asset to the
Suffield Police Department. His commitment in making Suffield’s roadways safer serves as an asset to
the community as a whole” said Captain Christopher McKee. This award was presented to Sgt. Trovato
at SPD headquarters by MADD Program Manager Johanna Krebs.

Suffield Police staff present to see Sgt Trovato receive his award also had the privilege to see Ms. Krebs
present a MADD award to Ms. Tayler Jimenez of Springfield, Massachusetts. Ms. Jimenez was
recognized for her creative fundraiser technique which raised $5,000 for MADD; baking and selling her
homemade chocolate chip cookies! Having Ms. Jimenez present was both an honor and sobering
reminder of how drunken driving can impact a family and an entire community. Jimenez’s sister, Alexa
Crosby was 17 years old and going into her senior year at Suffield High School when she was killed
during 2010 in an automobile accident as she was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by another
teenager driving under the influence of alcohol. Seven years later, Jimenez remains active with MADD,
both in Connecticut and Massachusetts, to keep the memory of Alexa alive and to prevent another
senseless tragedy due to drinking and driving.
