Man Charged In Suffield Car Burglaries

A man police claim was breaking into cars and stealing items has been caught.

SUFFIELD, CT — A New Britain man is facing charges that he burglarized vehicles and stole items, according to a police Facebook post. Suffield and other area police departments received several complaints about car burglaries and identified a Hyundai Sonata as the suspect vehicle.

Police received a similar complaint Thursday at 2:45 a.m. regarding the same vehicle attempting to enter vehicles on South Stone Street. Police set up a spike strip intended to stop the car before they engaged in pursuit.

After the vehicle fled police, they found it disabled and unoccupied near the Route 190 bridge. Enfield and Suffield police responded along with a K9 unit.

After about 1.5 miles, the K9 found the suspect hiding on a back porch.

Joshua Soler, 24, was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, interfering with a police officer, and simple trespass. He was held on $50,000 bond and will appear in court April 9.

The officers were able to secure evidence and information on other suspects and will be continuing to investigate.
