SUFFIELD, CT — An Enfield man found floating face down in the Windsor Locks Canal after falling off a motorized scooter later died of his injuries, according to Suffield Police Chief Richard Brown.

An investigation revealed David McIntire, 51, had been riding the scooter on the canal trail and lost control before falling to the pavement and rolling down an embankment into the water, Brown said.

When emergency personnel arrived, bystanders had already removed McIntire from the canal and had begun CPR. He was rushed to Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, but succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, Brown said.
