Roaring Acres Alpaca Farm Visit For Suffield Parks and Recreation Department's Bowling Buddies and Bowling Buddies Jr. and families
Have a fun time with your friends celebrating the end of spring and visit the Roaring Acres Alpaca Farm for our special group outing! We will have a blast while we visit with all the adorable animals at the farm. Roaring Acres is located at 685 Hale Street in Suffield and home to various species of animals including alpacas, painted desert sheep, miniature donkeys, miniature horses, chickens, ducks, a pig, and more!!! When we visit, we will even get to feed some of the Alpacas if you wish!!
All abilities welcome. We will be practicing physical/social distancing and everyone must wear a mask when physical/social distancing is not possible. All participants must pre-register. Limited enrollment. Please wear older comfortable clothes that allow for movement, old boots, hiking boots or sturdy closed toe footwear that you don’t mind getting some dirt on and bring water. Please also apply bug spray before you attend. We ask everyone to check their temperature before attending and if you have a temperature, over 100 please do not come to the program. Please do not come to the program if you are feeling ill or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. Please be sure to bring a mask with you.

Age: geared for ages 10 and up through adult (Special Partners and family are encouraged to participate from the Bowling Buddies and Bowling Buddies Jr. Program)
Location: Roaring Acres is located at 685 Hale Street Suffield CT. We will all meet at Roaring Acres. (There is lots of parking available!)
Fee: FREE (Roaring Acres does accept donations so if you would like to leave a small donation for the animals that is welcome.) There is also a nice farm store on site so please bring some additional money if you wish to purchase anything from the store. (Must pre-register. Limited spots) Please register at https://www.suffieldrec.com .All participants must register through the Parks and Recreation website and also fill out the Roaring Acres waiver before we arrive. (Both waivers are on the https://www.suffieldrec.com site)

When visiting our farm, guests are welcome to enter a pasture with our animals to feed and interact with alpacas. We will have animal food available on site. Other animals will be wandering the pasture as well, and the mini donkeys are close by and always looking for attention! We also have a lovely boutique on site filled with products from alpacas and bees, as well as other crafty items. At this time, masks are required when with the animals or in the boutique unless you are given express condition by a staff member that you do not have to wear them.
Typically guests spend between 45 minutes to 1 hour at the farm, but are welcome to stay as long as they would like during our open hours.
To expedite the process upon arrival, please fill out the waiver that we require guests to fill out before meeting our animals. Each individual family member must complete the waiver.

Monday, June 21 – Celebrate Summer Party and Trivia!
Get Ready for Summer Themed Outdoor Exercise and Walk Event - FREE (Bowling Buddies and Bowling Buddies JR Group and Friends) (New!)
Have a fun time with your friends celebrating the end of spring and almost summer while and getting some great exercise and listen to some uplifting music. We will walk, play some fun team building games and have a mini corn hole contest. If it rains that day, we will have our activities inside the McAlister gym as we did for the Cinco de Mayo party!
We will also go to the playscape at the end of the exercise/walk event with any of the Bowling Buddies Junior participants and families that attend!

Location: Suffield Middle School Track (Meet at the Tennis Courts and Park near the family Recreation Complex)
Fee: FREE (Must pre-register. Limited spots) Please register at https://www.suffieldrec.com so I have a head count for our treat bags. Register by Friday, June 4.
Please only arrive after 3:30 p.m. as the school bus release is right before then.
If there are just a few sprinkles, we will still exercise outside. Please bring a rain jacket and umbrella and wear proper footwear!
If it ends up raining heavy with Thunderstorms, we will play games/exercise inside the McAlister School gym and have the doors open for cross ventilation.
Inclusive Programming with the Suffield Parks and Recreation Department
Our programs foster friendships, socialization, promote community involvement and independence. This group enjoys educational presentations, fitness activities, crafting classes, games and events that are inclusive. Many fun outings throughout the year are held. Currently we have been running a weekly 2 hour Zoom program along with outdoor exercise programs and events throughout the COVID 19 Pandemic. During the Summer months, we will continue to have our Zoom programs in addition to in person outdoor events. The programs are geared for Middle school students through adult. Enrollment is on a first come first paid basis.
