Suffield Academy Library Hosts Reading by Alison Moncrief Bromage

Suffield, Ct….October 17, 2016…Suffield native, Alison Moncrief Bromage, will read from her debut collection of poems, Daughter, Daedalus, which won the 2016 T.S. Eliot Prize for Poetry, a national award given out by Truman State University Press for the best unpublished book-length collection of poetry in English. The reading will take place at the Suffield Academy Library on High Street on Thursday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m. The poet will talk poetry and answer questions after the reading. There will be an open mic before the reading, so bring your poems to share. The free program is a collaboration of the Academy and the Kent Memorial Library. Daughter, Daedalus is a siren song composed of loss and beauty. The poems are letters to the mythical inventor Daedalus and her daughter. Moncrief Bromage uses detailed themes of mothering and barrenness so wonderfully interwoven that readers will feel the pain.
