Suffield Greater Together Community Fund Accepting Grant Requests

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has established a $100,000 Greater Together Community Fund for the Town of Suffield. In 2019, the Hartford Foundation established a Greater Together Community Fund in each of the 29 towns within the Foundation’s region to support residents in taking ownership around the needs in their towns, encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement and anchor the Foundation in each town. An Advisory Committee has been appointed to develop the grant process and award grants to the final recipients.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving established the Suffield Greater Together Community Fund as an endowed fund. Half of the fund is to remain in permanent endowment and the other half is available for grants over a period of years. Suffield’s Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee has released its first grant application. Organizations that support the Suffield community are encouraged to apply for a grant. To be considered, the organization must be a registered nonprofit with a 501(c)(3) designation as a public charity or must obtain a fiscal agent registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Grant(s) of up to $5,000 will be awarded to one or more proposals. All projects must benefit the residents of the Town of Suffield. The funds awarded are intended to enhance the quality of life in Suffield or otherwise contribute to solving a direct need of the Suffield community. There are many worthy efforts serving the residents of Suffield, as well as unmet or unidentified needs. The resident-led committee will direct funding to infuse fresh energy through the town.

There is also opportunity for individuals and organizations to assist with this initiative by making a tax-deductible contribution to the Suffield Greater Together Community Fund. Any donations to this Fund will be administered by the Suffield Community Fund Advisory Committee and be available to support future grants for the Town of Suffield.
