Suffield Obituary: Alan Deyette, 68

Alan honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict.

Alan J. Deyette, 68, of Suffield, formerly of Westfield, MA, beloved husband of Lilla A. (Burrows) Bruyette, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs.

He was born in Wantagh, NY June 10, 1950, one of eight children born to the late Robert J. Deyette and Dorrice L. (Bombardier) Deyette. A Westfield resident for most of his life, Alan moved to Suffield in 2003 when he met the love of his life, Lilla. He was a kind and loving man who enjoyed model making, fishing, and motorcycling.

Alan was a wonderful cook and took great pride in his many culinary creations. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict. Alan retired as a truck driver in the tire industry after many years of service.

In addition to his wife Lilla, he leaves his daughter Michelle Mathieson of Chicopee, MA and son Fred Deyette of West Springfield, MA; two brothers, David and Edward Deyette and three sisters, Dorrice Deyette, Barbara Wright, and Lisa Ditoro; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Rob Deyette, sister Teri Brubaker, and a granddaughter.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA. There will be no public calling hours.
