Suffield Obituary: John Venora, 95

Condolences to his family and friends.

John C. Venora, 95, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.

He was born in Hartford on April 2, 1923 to the late Joseph Sr. and Frances (Monda) Venora. John served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Houston. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 42 years as a skilled machinist.

John lived in Bloomfield in the house his father built for 68 years. He was the second born of eight children. He was always the “big brother” looking out for and helping his brothers and sisters. He had a bright smile, a gift of song, a green thumb and a heart of gold. He was a fun loving uncle and a crossword whiz.

John is survived by his brother Dan Venora of Bloomfield; his sisters, Joanne Shovak of Windsor Locks and Karen Mahaney of Windsor; his brother-in-law Joseph Mahaney, sisters-in-law Joan Venora of Newington and Marie Venora of Glastonbury; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Rose (Venora) Herzog, his brothers, Joseph, Louis and Robert Venora, his brothers-in-law Burton Herzog and Joseph Shovak, and his sister-in-law Helen Venora.

John’s family would like to thank the staff of the Suffield House in Suffield, his home of nearly three years, for their care, kindness and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Saturday, August 11 at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St. Windsor followed by burial in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. His family will receive friends on Friday, August 10 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor.
