Suffield Police Arrest Man On Auto Theft Charges
Police said auto theft has spiked in the last year.
SUFFIELD, CT — Suffield police arrested a Hartford man early Wednesday morning accused of stealing a vehicle out of East Hampton, Massachusetts. Jason Aljoe, 21, was stopped on East Street North and charged with first-degree larceny.
Seventeen vehicles were stolen from Suffield in the 2019-2020 fiscal year, valued at over $266,000. That increased from only five vehicles the year before.
Police said all of the vehicles that were stolen had the keys in them or were readily accessible.

"This message is a plea to our residents," police wrote on Facebook. "Please lock your doors and take your keys. An unlocked vehicle should be the exception not the rule."
