Suffield Woman Charged In Forgery Case
A Suffield woman and a Hartford man have been accused of attempting to cash phony court checks, according to a report.
SUFFIELD, CT — A Suffield woman and a Hartford man were arrested on charges that they forged checks appearing similar to those used in the criminal court bond system, The Journal-Inquirer reported. April Scanlan, 32, of 96 Mountain Road was charged with second-degree larceny and first-degree forgery.
Michael Cruz, 32, of Hartford, faces charges of second-degree larceny, first-degree forgery, first-degree criminal contempt, and second-degree criminal contempt.
The case stems back to a 2016 investigation after a Vernon Superior Court employee received a call from a state official regarding fraudulent checks that were similar to bond refund checks the court issued.
