First Selectman Bob McGarry Explains Decision To Take Down Flags Along Highway 154
He says the flags were removed due to wind damage, but are going back up.
September 29, 2020
I’m writing concerning my decision to take the flags along 154 and Bridge Road down last week. I didn’t realize they had stayed up through Veterans Day previously. Because of the wind damage the flags endured, I thought they needed attention and should come down. There was no other reason for my decision. I apologize to everyone I upset. On a very positive note, the flags will be going back up. Dan Luisi and Myles Crete have volunteered to put them up and take them down at no cost to the town. I applaud their community spirit and thank them.
