Guilford Woman, 83, Dies In Haddam Crash
Mary Jean Nichol is dead and Bruce Nichol is in serious condition following a crash off of Rt. 154 this afternoon.

An 83-year-old Guilford woman died today and an 84-year-old man is in critical condition after the car they were driving in crashed into a tree head-on off of Rt. 154 in Haddam.
The Middletown Press reports that Mary Jean Nichol, 83, was a passenger in a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Bruce Nichol, 84. At around 12:48 this afternoon, the two got off of Rt. 9 via Exit 7 in Haddam when witnesses report the Explorer sped up, drove through a stop sign and crashed head-on into a tree, according to the newspaper.
Mary Nichol died instantly while Bruce Nichol was transported to Hartford Hospital and is in critical condition, according to The Middletown Press. The investigation is ongoing and witnesses are asked to to call Officer Brendan Fennessy of Troop F at (860) 399-2100.
