Haddam, Canaan Students Named Athletes Of The Week

Students from both Haddam and Canaan have been named Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Seniors Jaime Conklin (Falls Village) of the softball team and Griffin Bremer (Higganum) of the baseball team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Conklin registered a hit in all five games for the Owls last week and closed the week with a .400 batting average (6-for-15), according to a release. She also drove in two runs for the Owls, stole a base and had two sacrifice bunts.

Bremer continued his strong final season with another gem on Saturday. He tossed eight scoreless innings against AIC. Bremer allowed just six hits and fanned five in the contest.

Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's "Athlete of the Week" recognition program. Initiated in September 2007, the program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
