The purpose of the Haddam Cooperative Nursery School is to provide children with an environment of love, acceptance, freedom, and fun. We work to establish a creative atmosphere in which children are encouraged to grow in knowledge about themselves and about the world within which they live. We strive to foster a respect for self; we want to assist you in helping your child to develop a positive self-image.
Our primary goals are to help your child feel good about themselves and feel confident in their abilities and to create a social, child-centered environment that serves as a positive beginning for their time away from home. We seek to foster the intellectual growth of your child through exposure to basic preschool academic components consisting of numbers, letters, shapes, colors, and preparatory reading skills.
For those unfamiliar with HCNS and wondering what exactly is a cooperative nursery school; Here is an excerpt from the HCNS Parent Handbook!
“In choosing the Haddam Cooperative Nursery School for their children, parents elect to become a part of a committed community, playing an active part in their child’s learning. In turn, the school’s operations rely on parent’s engaged and thoughtful involvement; the ideas and skills that families bring to the school and the exchange of ideas between parents and teachers are intrinsic to our approach. Families can elect to hold certain “parent jobs” and serve on the board. The board takes on the responsibility of the business end of the school. All of the parent participation makes the preschool a close-knit community and is effective at keeping costs down.”
Please check out our classroom photo album on our Facebook page for a sneak peak while we aren’t able to do tours. Our physical classroom at FCCH is still currently closed.
We look forward to re-opening this fall...We love being a part of the HK Community!
