2004

How did you come up with the name?
Classes are taught in the Pond House Studio on Murray Pond in a private nature preserve in Killingworth.

Why start a business in this town?
I live in Killingworth.

What business are you in?
I am a fine art painter and I teach painting and drawing, and make and sell art.

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced starting a new business?
The most difficult challenge for a small private business is becoming known to the public.

What’s one highlight you've had since opening?
My students have won numerous awards and scholarships, and people of all ages have discovered that they can learn to draw and paint!

How does your business give back to the community?
Art is a visual language, and learning it enhances life by opening eyes and minds. Art reveals the organization and connection of everything. Seeing “the big picture” enables a deeper understanding of the world around us, and stimulates a richer life for individuals and communities. No previous experience or special talent is needed.

I offer group and private classes and special workshops for all ages (7 yrs +) and levels of experience in a beautiful location. I also mentor high school students for portfolio preparation, which includes digital photography and recommendations. Many of my students have won awards and scholarships and acceptance by the best schools in the country.
