HADDAM, CT — No injuries were reported in a house fire on Hidden Lake Road on Tuesday evening. Members of the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company and Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company responded to the fire around 5:20 p.m. and found “heavy smoke billowing from an attic window,” according to officials.

The residents had evacuated the home before crews arrived on the scene.

“Crews removed all burning debris from a wood boiler, located in the home’s basement and investigated the chimney for blockage,” officials wrote in a post on the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company’ Facebook page. “After all burning material was removed, firefighters vented the home with fans and checked for any hot spots in the walls. They also metered the home for unusual carbon monoxide levels.
