New Details Released As Police Search For Carjacking Suspect
Police are warning the public after a car was stolen Friday afternoon in Haddam.

HADDAM, CT — State Police released new details concerning a carjacking that occurred Friday. At noon a Higganum resident who lives on Killingworth Road (Route 81) called 911 after she confronted a man was in the process of stealing her grey 2014 Hyundai Tuscan (CT1AGKK3) out of her open garage.
The resident found the suspect in the driver seat. She then opened the vehicle driver door during the confrontation but the suspect backed up out of the driveway causing her to fall, sustaining minor abrasions, police said. The suspect then drove north on Killingworth Road
The suspect is captured on local business surveillance video walking southbound in the direction of the victim’s home on Killingworth Road prior to the incident.

The male suspect is described as being a medium build white male, approx. 5' 10", approx. 30-40 years old, with possible goatee facial hair, sunglasses, short brown hair, a light colored ball cap, dark colored knee length shorts, dark high top foot wear, carrying a dark colored back pack or bag.
The victim resident refused medical treatment at the scene. The vehicle has minor driver side door damage.

Police said it was taken in the area of Killingworth Road in Haddam. The driver is a white male wearing a baseball cap and blue shorts. The car has damage on the driver's side door and was last seen heading toward Higganum Center.
Police are canvassing the area searching for the vehicle. They have warned people to not approach the vehicle if seen. Instead, call police at 860-399-2100.
