Tri-State Horsemen's Association Brings Annual Ride to Groton

Each year, the association picks a different place for its annual trail ride. On Saturday, it was at Bluff Point in Groton.

 

More than a dozen riders from across the region brought their horses to Bluff Point State Park Saturday for the Tri State Horsemen's annual beach trail ride.

A chowder fest was scheduled to follow, with some serving lobster and others eating clam and corn chowder, hotdogs and hamburgers.

Sabrina Smith, of Clinton, brought her pony, Spirit, to the ride.

“This is new for her,” Smith said. “She’s kind of interested in everything that’s going on.”

Karen Picard, of Bolton, brought her horse, Prince Charming. Her daughter, Alex Picard, brought her horse, Frosted Flakes.

“It’s my first beach ride with my daughter,” Karen Picard said.

The Tri-State Horsemen’s promotes equestrian competitions, holds trail rides like the one at Bluff Point and promotes events including three dressage shows and three open shows.
