EAST LYME, CT — Three people have been charged in a robbery and assault that took place Oct. 5 in a wooded area of Niantic, according to a statement from police. Jerod White, 27, of Enfield, Nicole Birch, 20, and Gavin Birch, 22, both of 43 Carriage Hill Road in Niantic, were charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

All were held in lieu of $200,000 bond.

The arrests are related to an investigation that began Oct. 6. Police had been notified that a 28-year-old Bloomfield man was at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford for treatment related to serious facial injuries sustained in an assault. Police interviewed the victim and began the investigation.

The three assailants were known to the victim, according to police.
