Expect delays for Hartford Marathon Foundation event

The Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) will produce the 21st annual Niantic Bay Triathlon on Sunday, August 11. The race includes a 1/2 mile swim in Niantic Bay, a 12-mile bike loop through East Lyme and a 3.2 mile run along the oceanfront area.

All participants receive a short sleeve tech shirt, finisher’s medal and a post-race beach party with fruit, freshly baked bread with spreads, yogurt, seasonal specialties and ice cream truck.

Streets used for the race will be impacted between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Drivers should expect delays at times and are encouraged to find alternate routes, if possible. If driving on the route, use extreme caution as 600+ athletes will be riding bikes and running on the roads.
