East Lyme Man Lit Porch On Fire: Police

An East Lyme man was arrested on arson charges after police said he lit a porch on fire.

EAST LYME, CT — An East Lyme man was arrested on accusations that he lit a porch adjacent to his occupied home on fire, according to police. Emergency services received a call reporting a fire at the porch of a Flanders Road home at 1:54 a.m. Friday.

Police responded and found that the resident had extinguished the fire prior to their arrival. An investigation found that the fire was lit intentionally, according to police.

James Brown, 39, of 119 Flanders Road, was charged with second-degree arson, four counts of reckless endangerment, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor. He was held on $50,000 bond and will appear in court Monday.
