East Lyme Police Arrest Man After High Speed Chase: PD
A Colchester man was arrested after a high speed chase and confrontation with officers.
EAST LYME, CT — A Colchester man was arrested after a high-speed chase and confrontation with police. Police said that on Friday at 1:06 a.m., officers spotted a vehicle speeding on Route 161.
The vehicle turned onto Mostoway Road and when officers attempted to pull it over, the vehicle fled "at an extremely high rate of speed," according to a statement from police.
Once the vehicle reached the parking lot of the Star Mart on Flanders Road, the suspect abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. He ran through an area of brush at the Niantic Motel and then into the lobby of the Sleep Inn, where he resisted officers' attempts to take him into custody, according to the statement.

A struggle with officers followed and police used a Taser. The suspect was taken into custody. One officer sustained an injury to his hand.
David Phillips, 28, of Colchester, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, breach of peace, resisting arrest, and operating under a suspended license.
