The weather reports that we have been receiving say that we could receive over a foot of snow with high winds early Thursday morning. We wanted to let our residents and businesses know the following;

• For those that regularly park on town streets, you should start planning as if a parking ban will go into effect sometime late on Wed. Residents and businesses can park their vehicles at Bridebrook Park near 227 West Main St or the Community Center at 33 Society Rd if they need a location to park for this storm.
• If the conditions play out like the forecast, the Public Works Department may need to close the Transfer Station and cancel Garbage and Recycling pickup on Thursday so that we can use our manpower on the storm cleanup. If we do cancel garbage and recycling pickup on Thursday then we will most likely have double collection for Thursday and Friday’s runs on Friday. If this happens we will post it on the town’s website at www.eltownhall.com.
• If residents have basketball hoops in front of your properties, we ask that you pull them away from the edge of the road as they could get in the way of our efforts to clear the road from curb to curb.
• Some residents still have boats, trailers and/or campers parked along the edge or in the road. We ask that you move these items before the storm so they don’t get in the way of our plowing operation.
• We ask that residents try not to push snow back into the road when you are clearing your driveways. The best place to put snow is on the left side of the driveway (looking from the street) as that would insure that we don’t push snow back into your driveway when we push the snow back to the curb.
• Always remind children not to play on snow banks along the edge of the road as plow drivers would not be able to see them.
• We just wanted to let residents know that depending on our staff’s availability during and after the storm, it might take a few days to get the sidewalks cleared . Also, Parks & Recreation has asked me to mention that the Boardwalk might not be available for use for a few days until they can get staff and equipment to take care of it.
Additionally, some of our plow drivers are on new routes this year so there may be different places that they store snow then what you are used to. If you have any issues with our plowing or have questions for the Department during or after the storm, the best way to reach us is by email at publicworks@eltownhall.com.

Hopefully this storm is a dud and we can get back to planning for the holidays.
We would like to wish you all a Happy and Safe Holiday Season
