The Lymes Coronavirus Update: Cases And Vaccinations

Here are the recent coronavirus infection rates for Lyme, Old Lyme and East Lyme, as well as how many residents have been vaccinated.

LYME, CT — Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations have been trending down in Connecticut over the past few weeks.

Connecticut had 36.1 daily average cases per 100,000 population between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 — that’s the lowest two-week average since early November.

Lyme recorded 2 new coronavirus cases between Feb. 4 and 10. There have been 79 cases recorded since the pandemic began and 0 coronavirus-deaths.

Lyme had 12.2 average daily cases per 100,000 residents between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 and a positive test rate of 2.70 percent. There were 21.4 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a relatively small number of cases can have a big effect on the case rate, especially in smaller towns.

The state opened vaccination appointments for people between 65 and 74 years old on Thursday.

Lyme had 321 first doses administered as of Feb. 11. About 13.86 percent of town residents have received at least one dose and 72.48 percent of residents 75 and older have received at least one dose.


East Lyme

East Lyme recorded 13 new coronavirus cases between Feb. 4 and 10. There have been 761 cases recorded since the pandemic began and 45 coronavirus-deaths.

East Lyme had 41.8 average daily cases per 100,000 residents between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 and a positive test rate of 6.00 percent. There were 34.5 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a relatively small number of cases can have a big effect on the case rate, especially in smaller towns.

Vaccines

The state opened vaccination appointments for people between 65 and 74 years old on Thursday.

East Lyme had 2,708 first doses administered as of Feb. 11. About 14.67 percent of town residents have received at least one dose and 90.59 percent of residents 75 and older have received at least one dose.


Old Lyme

Old Lyme recorded 5 new coronavirus cases between Feb. 4 and 10. There have been 272 cases recorded since the pandemic began and 3 coronavirus-deaths.

Old Lyme had 25.2 average daily cases per 100,000 residents between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 and a positive test rate of 3.60 percent. There were average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a relatively small number of cases can have a big effect on the case rate, especially in smaller towns.

Vaccines

The state opened vaccination appointments for people between 65 and 74 years old on Thursday.

Old Lyme had 1,153 first doses administered as of Feb. 11. About 15.78 percent of town residents have received at least one dose and 76.48 percent of residents 75 and older have received at least one dose.
