Man, 56, Arrested After Trying To Meet Girl, 15, For Sex: Police
Julian Muller of Old Lyme spoke online with an undercover cop posing as a teen for months, then he came to Guilford for sex, police say.
GUILFORD, CT — After conversing online for a few months with a person he believed was a 15-year-old girl, a 56-year-old Old Lyme man drove to Guilford to meet her for sex, police said.
Instead of meeting a young girl for a "sexual encounter," Julian Muller was arrested by Guilford Police officers.
According to Guilford Police Chief Warren H. "Butch" Hyatt Jr., a Guilford police officer posing as an underage female was contacted by Muller in March 2020.

The two continued to communicate over several social media platforms for several months, ending with Muller trying to hook up with the person he thought was a teenage girl in late August.
Hyatt said Muller was taken into custody "without incident upon his arrival." It's not clear where the location for the meet was.

Hyatt said police remind parents and guardians "to be aware of their children's social media contacts and activities," he said. "Help us help keep your children safe."
Muller was charged with criminal attempt at second-degree sexual assault, criminal attempt at enticing a minor via computer, criminal attempt at risk of injury to a minor, use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and possession of less than a half ounce of a "cannabis-type substance."
Muller was later released on a $20,000 bond.
Muller is licensed in the state for home improvement and has a carpentry business —J.H. Muller Carpentry —that he runs out of his 16-1 Somerset Lane address.
