Man Damages Homes, Garden Center In East Lyme
A school was briefly put on lockdown as a result of the incident.

EAST LYME, CT — A man caused a disturbance Tuesday afternoon that resulted in Niantic Center School being briefly locked down and Main Street being closed, according to police. Several 911 calls at around 1:15 p.m. indicated that a man was walking barefoot while yelling on Blackpoint Road near Crossley Court.
This quickly escalated to reports that the man was also causing damage to houses by smashing windows and screens, according to police. Officers arrived to find the man in front of Smith Acres causing damage to their products.
The man, who police said was highly combative and had multiple lacerations, required several officers to take him safely into protective custody.

He was transported to the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment.
