Missing Girl Found Safe In Oklahoma

Missing for weeks, Katherine Konrad, 16, of Deep River, was found in a car with a 22-year-old man. No charges have been filed police said.

DEEP RIVER, CT — Thousands of people shared the Silver Alert and a vigil was held all in the hopes for a good outcome; that 16-year-old Konrad would be found, alive and safe. She was Friday. In Oklahoma.

When the missing alert was issued back in December, just days before Christmas, state police from Troop F said she may have been traveling with a 22-year-old man, Kyle Sheehan, on the way to Tennessee.

Police announced Friday morning, that after being missing since Dec. 20, 2019, Konrad had been located.

Konrad Was Reported Missing From Valley Regional High School On Dec. 20

State Police began investigating the disappearance of Konrad from Valley Regional High School in Deep River on Dec. 20, 2019. State police, the FBI and numerous state, local and federal agencies combined resources on a nationwide missing persons investigation.

Police said that at around 4 a.m. Friday, police from the city of Miami, Oklahoma stopped a car and found it was linked to the Konrad missing persons case.

Konrad was in the car. She was "taken into protective custody" by Miami Oklahoma Police Department.

State police say it's still an "open and active investigation however there are no criminal charges at this time," adding that the "Konrad family greatly appreciates the overwhelming support from the community and they are asking for patience and privacy as they move forward."
