New London Man Injures 3 Police Officers: PD
A New London man is accused of assaulting three police officers and attempting to grab one of their Tasers.
EAST LYME, CT — A New London man was arrested in East Lyme on charges that he assaulted officers, fled from police, and grabbed one of their Tasers, according to a police statement. Dwayne Denton, 37, of 68 Connecticut Ave. #2, was charged with fugitive from justice, criminal impersonation, three counts of assault on an officer, three counts of interfering with an officer, possession of marijuana, and passing on the right.
According to police, officers stopped Denton's vehicle for a moving violation Wednesday at about 3 p.m. When officers made contact with the driver, he provided a falsified Florida driver's license.
Police asked him to exit the vehicle, but Denton refused to cooperate and restarted the vehicle. Officers attempted to stop him from putting the car in gear, but he was able to put it in drive, causing two officers to fall into the roadway.

Another officer, who had approached from the passenger's side, was stuck in the vehicle as it drove away with the driver physically assaulting the officer.
Denton then crashed into a parked vehicle. While officers continued attempts to get him out of the car, and prevent his attempts to escape, he continued to resist arrest and grabbed an officer's Taser from them.

Police removed from the vehicle and placed into custody. Three officers were injured, but did not require hospital treatment.
An FBI search of the operators fingerprints revealed that he was wanted on an extraditable warrant from New York for violation of parole related to firearms offense(s).
