Old Lyme Student Receives Scholarship from Max Cares Foundation
Johnson & Wales Student Honored with Hospitality Scholarship from Max Cares

Max Cares Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization, announced today the awarding of five scholarships to two college-bound high school graduates and three rising college students that are set to study in the fields of culinary arts and hospitality management. Applications for the competitive scholarships were submitted by students either currently enrolled in or entering educational programs dedicated to culinary arts, restaurant management, and hospitality. Each student will receive $2,500 toward their college expenses.
The 2020 Max Cares Foundation Scholarship recipients are:
Jonah Gershon of West Hartford, CT attends William Hall High School. Jonah is enrolled in Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration Fall 2020.

Rylan Walting of Wilbraham, MA attends Minnechaug Regional High School. Rylan is enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America’s Applied Food Studies program Fall 2020.
Joshua Laxton of Chicopee, MA is a rising second year student at Culinary Institute of America / Science of Hospitality Management Program. Resides in Chicopee, MA

Jose Xiloj of New Britain, CT is a rising third year student at Manchester Community College /Culinary Arts.
Jacob Olsen of Old Lyme, CT is a rising second year student at Johnson & Wales University as a Sports, Entertainment, Event Management Major.
Rich Rosenthal, President of the Max Cares Foundation, states, "With the hospitality industry hit particularly hard by the pandemic at this time, I am excited that the Max Cares Foundation is investing in the next generation of our business. I look forward to seeing Jonah, Rylan, Joshua, Jose and Jacob help us move forward into the future."
