Road Paving In East Lyme Causes Delays Tuesday

"Please be patient if you must travel through the area but it may be best to just avoid the area," said East Lyme police.

EAST LYME, CT — Road paving Tuesday is causing delays along Route 156 in East Lyme between the Niantic River Bridge and Rocky Neck Connector, according to East Lyme police.

"Please be patient if you must travel through the area but it may be best to just avoid the area," wrote police on the department's Facebook page. "Officers working the traffic detail have a difficult task managing traffic around work crews and equipment so please follow directions and any signage as there will be one way traffic between Black Point Road and Fairhaven Road most of the day."

This morning will likely be the worst of the delays, as traffic heads east toward Waterford, according to police.

"Hope Street will be used as a detour for Main Street, and Fairhaven Road will be used for West Main Street."

The work is scheduled to be finished by 4 p.m. Tuesday, police said, so the evening rush hours should not be adversely affected.
