Suspects Enter Several Cars In Niantic
Police are searching for suspects in two cases of unlocked cars being entered.
EAST LYME, CT — Several vehicles were entered overnight in Niantic, according to police. Police said that a resident of South Washington Avenue interrupted individuals attempting to enter vehicles.
The individuals fled in a Massachusetts registered vehicle towards Fairhaven Road. Police said no items were stolen, but several vehicles in the area appear to have been entered.
This comes after another incident in which an East Lyme Officer on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle off Boston Post Rd near the Old Lyme town line, which had been stolen out of New York.

Investigation found that a vehicle in the area had been entered but nothing was taken.
Police said these incidents of incidents of individuals entering vehicles looking for items of value and stealing vehicles with the keys left inside continue to occur throughout Southeastern Connecticut.

"We urge residents to continue to ensure that all of their vehicles are locked and keys/key fobs are not left inside vehicles," police said. "We also ask residents to report all suspicious activity and observations to Police."
