
LYME, CT — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for northern and southern New London County from midnight on Thursday, Jan. 4, through midnight on Friday, Jan. 5, according to the National Weather Service.
As much as six inches of snow or more could fall in the area during the period, and heavy winds are also expected.

THURSDAY EVENING...
* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including the morning and evening commute on Thursday. Total snow accumulations of 6 or more inches are possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Connecticut and Suffolk County on Long Island.
* WHEN...From late Wednesday night through Thursday evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind gusts between 30 to 40 mph are possible. This may result in blowing and drifting of snow. Significant reductions in visibility are possible.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 29. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. West wind around 7 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night: Snow likely, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 26. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Light and variable wind becoming north 6 to 11 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Thursday: Snow. Steady temperature around 26. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Blustery.
Friday: Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 15. Breezy.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 1. Breezy.
Saturday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 11.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 2.
