Police are investigating a fatal car fire in a West Hartford parking lot.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — One person was killed on a car fire in West Hartford Wednesday morning, authorities said.

While on routine patrol at about 4 a.m., an officer came upon a person inside a burning car in a parking lot on Kane Street, authorities said.

The flames were too intense to get the person out of the vehicle, authorities said. The person was in the driver's seat and was the car's lone occupant, according to a report.

Firefighters were able to get the fire out quickly, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
