2 West Hartford Gas Stations Damaged In Apparent Areawide Spree

Friday incidents in West Hartford and Windsor Locks could be part of a larger ATM theft operation, police said.

WEST HARTFORD — Two stores at two gas stations in West Hartford were burglarized early Friday mornin and police are saying they could be related to an areawide burglary spree.

At 4:12 a.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to investigate a burglary at the Shell station, at 338 Park Road.

The front door was damaged and the automated teller machine was stolen, police said.

Police said the Shell station at 195 Prospect Ave was also damaged Friday morning and the ATM was stolen.

West Hartford police said similar incidents also occurred Friday in the greater Hartford area and added they are working with other police departments to see if the incidents are related.

One example was at 3 a.m. Friday in Windsor Locks, when a truck with a chain attached to it pulled out the doors to a filling station convenience store. See more on the incident here.
