Aiken Elementary School Holds First-Ever Science Fair

Aiken Elementary School held its first-ever science fair on Friday evening, with 24 fourth and fifth graders participating in the event.

Every week for six weeks, the students met during lunch with Aiken parents who work in the science industry to learn how to use the scientific method, according to Chris Macca.

“We made sure they were on target,” Macca said. “They did a great job.”

Presentations included salinity in water, the efficacy of laundry detergent, whether salt affects crystal formation and what type of chocolate melts the fastest.

Hall High science students served as judges in the fair.
